As we continue to grow and impact lives globally, we’re looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our technological vision and execution, ensuring seamless integration with our business needs and facilitating continuous innovation.

Who we are looking for:

 

The Director of Engineering will be crucial in connecting our business and engineering efforts within a rapidly expanding team, currently numbering 10, with plans to grow this year. They will oversee our technology infrastructure, including mobile and web apps, websites, and operational tools, focusing on improving collaboration and efficiency across our expanding, distributed teams

What you’ll do:

  • Lead Our Technology Vision: Take ownership of our technology across mobile applications, websites, and operational tools. Align our technological strategies with the company’s broad business goals, ensuring our tech stack is reliable and scalable.
  • Drive Engineering Excellence: Lead the charge in designing and implementing new engineering processes rooted in agile methodologies, while integrating (CI/CD) pipelines. This dual focus will redefine our project management and software development practices, making our processes more adaptive, efficient, and aligned with our ambitious growth targets. By incorporating (CI/CD) principles as we develop our engineering practices, you will significantly enhance our ability to deliver high-quality software swiftly and with greater reliability. This initiative is a cornerstone in our commitment to fostering a culture that prioritizes continuous improvement and innovation, setting the stage for more efficient development cycles and a robust framework for our technological projects.
  • Enhance Team Coordination: Develop and implement structured engineering processes to improve coordination across our distributed teams in Serbia, India, and local settings. Leverage Asana for initial project management, setting the stage for a transition towards a toolset that better aligns with agile development methodologies. This approach aims to refine our workflow and project delivery, preparing our team for a more dynamic, efficient, and agile-centric process framework.
  • Bridge Business and Technology: Act as a key liaison between the engineering teams and the business, translating business challenges into technical solutions. Work closely with the executive team and a fractional CTO to ensure technology fully supports business objectives.
  • Cultivate a High-Performance Culture: Build and mentor a high-performing technology team. Foster innovation, accountability, and a culture of excellence. Define and track key performance indicators within our project management and development cycles. This initiative will enhance our ability to measure success, pinpoint areas for improvement, and optimize our processes. By focusing on data-driven insights, we aim to foster a culture of accountability and continuous growth. Provide professional development opportunities to help team members excel.
  • Integrate Cybersecurity Measures: Develop and implement cybersecurity protocols with a focus on moving towards HIPAA compliance, safeguarding our technology infrastructure against breaches, and ensuring the protection of sensitive health data. Establish a robust framework that aligns our operations with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of successfully managing technology teams. The candidate should possess strong team-building skills, the ability to inspire and motivate team members, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative, innovative work environment. Experience in mentoring staff, managing diverse and distributed teams, and driving projects to completion is required
  • Engineering Background: Possess a solid foundation in engineering, with a preference for candidates who have maintained hands-on coding experience, particularly with backend systems or architecture, within the last 5 years. This ensures a deep understanding of current technologies and development practices.
  • Experience with International Teams: Demonstrated experience in working with and managing overseas teams is crucial. This experience should include effective communication, project management, and collaboration with teams from diverse cultural backgrounds to deliver technology solutions.
  • Agile Development Methodologies: Proficiency in agile development methodologies, capable of implementing and adapting these practices to enhance team productivity and project delivery.
  • Scaling Platforms: Demonstrated experience in scaling platforms to support growth. This includes optimizing existing systems and architecture for scalability and performance to accommodate increasing loads and complex operations.
  • Compliance Framework Knowledge: Prior experience with compliance frameworks, like HIPAA, SOC2, or PCI considered advantageous.
