Knee

Tempo Split Stance Lunge

Lunge down for five seconds, hold three at the bottom, then drive back up. Quads and glutes work, with a stretch in the front of the back hip.

Knee

Tempo Split Stance Lunge

How

  • Begin with one foot in front and the other leg extended back with your back toes pushing into the ground.
  • Keeping your torso straight up, lunge forward and down for 5 seconds, hold that position for 3 seconds, and push back up into the starting position.
  • In this example, we used a 5310 tempo.
  • Tempo exercises consist of 4 different numbers.
  • In the example of a 5310 split stance lunge:
  • 5 is the lowering or eccentric portion
  • 3 is the pause at the bottom or isometric portion
  • 1 is the rising or concentric portion
  • 0 is the rest between reps at the top.
  • Sometimes you will use an “X” to denote as fast as possible.

Feel

  • You should feel your quadriceps and glute muscles working.
  • You should also feel a stretch in the front of your hip with the back leg.

Compensation

  • Keep your back upright, don’t slouch forward.
  • Make sure to bend both knees as you lunge forward and keep that bend as you go down.

The platform

How it works in your clinic

“Patient feedback on it… has been 10 stars, they absolutely love having the videos and personal link.”

— Amanda Quarles, OTD, OTR/LClinical Director, Valor Health and Wellness

Before

Another HEP platform, for a whole career

Valor's PTs, OTs, chiropractors and strength coaches share patients. Clinical Director Amanda Quarles had used another HEP platform for her entire career, until one of Valor's clinicians tried Prehab with their own patients and showed it to her.

What changed

Patients give it 10 stars

Valor moved its practitioners onto one shared Prehab team, so clinicians who share a patient work from the same programs. Amanda says patients "absolutely love having the videos and personal link."

"It's worked really well for us as practice. Every single patient that's come in [in the] last seven and a half years has been using the Prehab Guys platform."
Dr. Ben Bagge, PT, DPT, CSCSPro+Kinetix Physical Therapy & Performance (Inc. 5000 Awarded Company)
"We needed an exercise library and programming that is consistent with our corrective exercise style and we found that with Prehab… With this change we are able to add new service lines that include Personal training x 1 or 4 memberships. With these memberships the client/patient would see us either 1x month or 4x month and we would drive the rest of their programming through Prehab's exercise software. So far clients have loved the flexibility and ease of use with Prehab's product."
Dale Huff, CSCSOwner, NutriFormance
"As a Sport Physiotherapist for the past 10 years, I've worked with many exercise prescription platforms, but none as extensive for more advanced progressions than the Prehab Guys. There are many useful features that have elevated my practice at Cadence Physiotherapy, in particular the ability to prescribe different exercises in different programs for the same client (think post-op Achilles', ACL, etc.). My clients rave about how helpful the app is for consistency with rehab programming!"
Hilary MallingerCo-Founder, Cadence Physiotherapy
"Prehab has been a great addition to our clinic. The app is patient-friendly, the exercise videos are high quality and easy to follow, and the team features are especially valuable for our multi-provider practice. Being able to see what each provider has prescribed helps streamline visits and maintain consistency of care across our team."
Dr. Ali Schickner, DC, CCSPThe Body Theory
"We love the Prehab exercise library! We work in fire rescue and have to create a lot of high level programming for rehab and training. We've tried other coaching apps and have always been disappointed in the variety of exercises available, poor exercise explanation, or just a clunky platform. The Prehab library has pretty much anything I can think of, including things not normally used in traditional PT. I like that they keep the explanations concise so clients don't have to watch a 10 min video each time they want to learn an exercise and the platform is really smooth and simple. We highly recommend this library."
Alison Heartman, PT, DPT, CSCSCo-Founder, Recon Performance PT
