WHY: This exercise will help with building carrying and lifting strength.
HOW: Get set-up with two moderate-weighted objects in each hand, be sure each object weighs the same amount if possible and you’re able to hold the objects for the time prescribed without compensating. Before you begin, pull your shoulder blades back together and ‘pack’ your shoulders, don’t let your shoulders hang loosely. While maintaining shoulder position, slowly march in place.
FEEL: You should feel your shoulder and shoulder blade muscles working with holding the objects. You should also feel your back and stomach muscles working to keep your trunk braced. As you’re marching, you should feel your leg muscles working to maintain optimal position and balance.
