Program schedule

This phase is designed for individuals that are experiencing knee pain/discomfort with their current training program and/or activities of daily living. Also, this phase is appropriate for someone that has not been performing regular lower body exercises. Early in phase 1 there are a lot of lower body stretching exercises and non-weight-bearing lower body strengthening exercises. Some of the real low-level stretching exercises or active-assisted range of motion exercises can be performed only on the knee that is giving you trouble if you’d like, however it is also ok to do them on both sides. Each week the exercises progress and become more challenging in an upright, weight-bearing position. It is in your best interest to finish the entire phase even if you’re feeling better early on! This will help prepare you for Phase 2 exercises.
Phase 2 focuses on building foundational strength throughout the lower body along with core activation. Unilateral exercises will be introduced and progressed each week as we believe possessing unilateral leg strength that is similar side-to-side is extremely important for knee health. This is especially true in regards to avoiding compensation and overuse with daily activities, workouts, and sports in efforts to mitigate the risk of an injury occurring. Each week you will be introduced to new exercises that are designed to challenge you and build off of the previous week. If any of the exercises are too challenging or causing discomfort that you don’t like, simply refer to the alternative exercise, which is easier and similar to an exercise the week prior. In order to train and perform at the level you’d like, you have to build a stable foundation first!
Phase 3 focuses on advanced lower body strengthening and stabilization exercises. We have put together our favorite hip and knee warm-up routine that combines mobility, stability, and activation drills. As the lower body strengthening exercises continue to progress, so will incorporating all three planes of motion with different movements.Phase 3 will also expand on core exercises and deceleration drills that challenge hip and knee stability. It is essential to understand the hip plays a major role in knee position and knee health, that is why we focus on it a lot throughout this program! Completing this phase and holding onto some of these workouts for maintenance will be just the right dose of knee [P]Rehab to make your knees ready for anything life throws at you.
